The ECF recently organised the inaugural Online British Championships, featuring a bewildering array of events. Congratulations to Max Wilton and Arjun Kolani – the new British Online Under 16 and Under 14 Blitz Champions respectively. Arjun was also second in the Major Open. Our President, GM David Howell also won the recent Hastings Online championships

Sussex’s Rhys Cumming gains his first IM norm
Congratulations to ex-Sussex junior FM Rhys Cumming who has just taken his first step towards the International Master title. Rhys, who captains our Sussex Martlets teams in the 4NCL chess league, came third in an over the board tournament in Portugal, earning his first IM Norm.
New Online Tournaments Scheduled
We will be running the Sussex Closed Girls Championships and the Sussex Closed U9/11/13/18 Championships online during November. The girls’ event will be held on Saturday 14th November using the Lichess.org platform. There will be an entry fee of £3 per player.
