East Grinstead Bookshop Chess Club vs Crowborough Juniors

On Sunday 26th October East Grinstead Bookshop Chess Club challenged Crowborough Juniors to a friendly 5 board match.

The match took place across the board in 2 seperate rooms. This was one of the first such matches played in this country since the lockdown in March. Each board was separated by a perspex screen and players were 1 metre plus apart.

The match was played in perfect match conditions and in an excellent spirit.

Crowborough triumphed in the match but EGB have their chance of revenge when the 2 sides will play a second match next week when it is expected that each team will be represented by an entirely different set of players.

Particular thanks go to John Pye, the Bookshop owner, for making this such a special occasion for the juniors and parents alike.

East Grinstead Bookshop Chess Club meets on Sunday mornings; open to all juniors from 10.30 to 11.30, when you can just turn up and play – contact John Pye for more information.
