Latest Sussex Players to be Selected to the NCJS

Congratulations to Andy, Luke and Nayan who are the latest in a long roll of honour of Sussex players selected to the National Chess Junior Squad.

Pre-Covid, candidates would need to attend a number of qualifying events around the Country to gain sufficient qualifying ‘norms’ to be selected to trial in Liverpool. This year the usual circuit of events was curtailed and instead nominated candidates attended a 2-day, 6-round trial in Liverpool over the weekend of 23rd-24th April.

Andy, Luke and Nayan can now look forward to being presented with their NCJS uniform (white polo shirts with a cross of St George logo) and being invited to represent the squad in competitions at home and in Europe. The first planned event is a home international vs Wales later this Summer.
