Glorney International 2018

It was the turn of Chess Scotland to host the Glorney Gilbert International 2018 at the University of West Scotland, West Paisley, Scotland from 15th to 19th July.

This is a team event that has been running continuously since 1949 – this year the teams competing were The Netherlands, France, Scotland, England, Wales and Ireland. It has a long and varied history and is currently run as four competitions:

Glorney Cup Under 18’s 5 boards
Robinson Cup Under 14’s 6 boards
Gilbert Cup Girls under 18 3 boards
Stokes Cup Under 12’s 6 boards

Sussex players Matt Forster and Lucy Bennet-Stevens were selected to represent England in the Glorney and Gilbert respectively. Lucy won the board prize for the Gilbert Team.
