Nearly 50 players represented our Sussex squad in the 5th online Inter-County blitz but it wasn’t quite enough to knock Kent off the top spot.
Our campaign in this competition started in the 3rd Battle on 1st June – winning Division 2 and earning promotion to Division 1 at the first attempt. Following that, the Sussex team, marshalled by Jonathan Tuck and Mike Forster, stormed to the top of Division 1 in the 4th Battle on 15th June.
Thanks to Alex Holowczak, ECF Director of Junior Chess, for organising this fun, fast and furious online championship. Taking place every 2-3 weeks teams need a minimum of 15 players (no maximum) and play matches with a time limit of 5/3 – the whole event lasting 90 minutes.
