British Championships – Scarborough – July 1999
Players from Sussex Junior Chess had a successful time at the British Championships in Scarborough. Top performer was David Howell, who scooped both the Under 9 and under 10 titles, with 7/7, and 6½/7 respectfully. He was also 3rd in the under 11 age group with 5½ out of 7. Sebastian Pozzo was joint title winner in the under 8 age group with 5/6, and also third in the under 9’s with 5½ out of 7.
Stephanie Barraclough was joint runner up for the Under 10 girls title, scoring 4½/7.
