Arjun, Edward, Elizabeth, Leo, Oliver and Polina were all selected to compete in Frydek Mistek, Czech Republic, with the NCJS.
This turned out to be an excellent trip, combining serious chess with fun chess (a simul against a local GM & IM) and sightseeing.
In the serious chess – the ‘Tournament of Young Talents’ – Arjun, Elizabeth and Leo were all competing in the U12 section; while Edward, Oliver and Polina were in the U15. All scored 50% or more over 8 rounds with Arjun winning 3rd place with 6/8 and Polina 3rd in the U15 Girls category with 4.5
In the fun chess – wins for Oliver against GM Movsesian, and for Leo, Polina and Edward against IM Jasny.
