Thanks to Alex Holowczak, ECF Director of Junior Chess, for organising this fun, fast and furious online championship. Taking place every 2-3 weeks teams need a minimum of 15 players (no maximum) and play matches with a time limit of 5/3 – the whole event lasting 90 minutes.
32nd Battle – 1st August 2022
Sussex juniors winning run finally came to an end – a strong Kent team pipped us for first place.
We had another large turnout of players, thanks to all who got involved. Well done to Ted who won the tournament and also to Risha, Elena and Sidhanth who came in the top 12.
The next event will be 5th September.

Sussex juniors complete a double hat-trick winning the monthly online county battle for the 6th time in a row.
Another strong team performance with 8 players in the top 20, headed up by Luke and Adam.

29th Battle – 2nd May 2022
Another great effort from the Sussex juniors as we won the monthly online county battle for the 4th time in a row.
A large turnout of players once again and this makes all the difference.

27th Battle – 7th March 2022
Another terrific performance from the Sussex juniors winning for the 2nd month in a row.
A reduced team of 25 players but in an exciting finish we pipped Essex and Kent to 1st place.
George followed up his tournament win last month with 4th place and he was backed up by a stack of players scoring in double figures, great strength in depth!

Brilliant from the Sussex juniors as we convincingly won the monthly online county battle – the turnout of 40 players just fantastic, what a great team effort.
George won the tournament overall and we had 6 others finish in the top 20.

22nd Battle – 4th October 2021
Running all through the pandemic the most recent tournament on 4th October was the 22nd Battle. Nearly 20 players represented our Sussex squad. Having reached division 1 it’s tough at the top but Sussex finished on the podium in 3rd place, punching above our weight in terms of numbers.
