Luke Freeman was delighted and taken by surprise to qualify, just the weekend before, for the Terrafinal held at Blenheim Palace 18th and 19th October. It was a wonderful experience in an amazing venue, playing an 11 round ‘All-Play All’ event (12 players per section). Luke really enjoyed the challenge of playing in the Under 14 section against many players he knew from England trips and other tournaments.
Before the Terrafinal, he said he would be happy getting into the top 10 out of 12, so we were all taken aback when he finished in second place! The last couple of games were very tense as the top 5 or 6 players were very closely placed.
Sidanth Pi also played in the U12 category ending in 8th place scoring 5/11 with a highlight of holding a Candidate Master to a draw.
