Bruce Dienes 1963 – 2006
Bruce was a chess player, parent, and Chairman of Sussex Junior Chess until his untimely death in 2006.
His widow kindly left SJC the proceeds of the sale of his chess books which were used to endow the Bruce Dienes awards which were presented for the first time in 2010.
The Bruce Dienes Cup is awarded to a player who is a good ambassador for junior chess in Sussex, demonstrating qualities which are likely to help them continue to enjoy chess as a hobby into the future; such as committment, tenacity, perseverence and sportsmanship.
